Lithuania, Malaysia and India... Oh My!

When we launched Necessary Pleasures 6 weeks ago (she's still just a baby!), we saw it as a way to try new recipes, have fun in the kitchen as a family, and explore the world of blogging. We never anticipated it would also be such a great geography lesson for Hannah, Olivia and Miranda.

You should have seen how excited they got when our readership spread from the U.S. to Canada to the U.K. When we added Australia and New Zealand, you would have thought we won the lottery. Olivia was jumping up and down like a mad woman!

Over the last month the list has grown to include

  • Ukraine
  • Luxembourg
  • India
  • Lithuania
  • Vietnam
  • South Korea
  • South Africa
  • France
  • Malaysia
  • Russia
  • Singapore
  • Germany

and more...

When we log on each night, Hannah's first question is "Did we add any new states?" (Countries, honey, countries)

It's prompted us to pull out the world map and play a little game of Find-That-Reader. Which is awesome!

But you know what would be even more awesome?!? If some of our international readers would take a moment to introduce themselves and tell us a little about where you're from and what kinds of foods you like to eat.

C'mon! Step out... say hello... we'd love to meet you!

  1. I`ve been meaning to write to say that it`s wonderful that your excellent blog reaches readers around the world, and thanks for taking the time to point out Luxembourg on the map to your girls. Even a lot of Europeans don`t know where it is!
In case you`d like to cook something Luxembourgish, I highly recommend Gromperekichelcher, which are fried potato pancakes with onions and herbs. Unpronounceable, but delicious.
    All the best to you,

  2. Heather!

Thanks for dropping by. The girls are having a blast finding out where all the countries are... even if Hannah keeps calling them "states" ;-) We had a reader from Mongolia on the site yesterday. That was pretty exciting!

Thanks for suggesting Gromperekichelcher (it's fun *trying* to say it!). We'll put it in the hopper.

    Take care and be well,
    Tanya
